How do they get passed it or I should say by pass it if you have it enabled?

As far as I know, the easiest and most common way to bypass CAPTCHAs (besides exploiting seperate security flaws, which is always easier) is to outsource to humans. There are services which will cheaply solve CAPTCHAs through human labor and then return the solutions to the client.

It really depends on the captcha image itself. Some produce simple text in an image which are easy for a program to read, whereas others are harder to break. Outsourcing to human labour would be quite pointless in most cases.

Thanks for the answers. This means you really have to come up with new solutions constantly otherwise you will get spammed.

I saw someone actually selling a product that reads them easily! You have to come up with your own unique code.
