Hi,

Vasudeva Server is a non-profit organisation that also develops open source software. We already have three self-managed FreeBSD based co-located servers and are looking to add some "semi-managed" VPS (at least one of your VZ2, for now). Here are a few questions.

1) Which version of CentOS do you offer, 4 or 5?
2) Could you offer Ubuntu as well?
3) We do have licenses for JIRA (Java based ticketing system) and Communigate Pro (our e-mail server, even if our email usage is low, and we have few accounts). Could you help in installing them? (If not, we could do it ourselves.)
4) Knowing that Cpanel does not interact with Communigate Pro for mail accounts (which is fine for us), is it going to be all right for us to use Communigate Pro or is it going to create problems with the support staff (perhaps because Cpanel may not be happy about that)?
5) We would be paying for a full year with your 50PROMO offer. If we need to upgrade our VPS, can you extend that offer to the new level?
6) Your VPS are defined somewhere on your website as "semi-managed", which suits us perfectly. Do you have a link for a more precise definition of "semi-managed", just to be clear what to expect and what not?
7) If we start with the 512Mb VPS, how much real RAM can we expect once the default configuration is installed (CentOS, Apache, Red5, mysql, Cpanel, etc) and running (before any other web app, and with zero traffic of course)?

Thank you

1) Our VPSes utilize CentOS 4.6
2) At this time we can only offer CentOS 4.6.
3) Yes, there is just a $25 charge for script installation.
4) It would be difficult if troubleshooting is necessary, likely with each ticket you would just need to note that you are using a custom mail setup, and the techs should be able to go from there without much trouble.
5) We will extend the 50PROMO code if an upgrade is made within the first 30 days, after that time however the upgrade would be at normal pricing.
6) We do not have a list online that I know of. Basically we will cover any problems that may arise, troubleshooting issues, etc., as well we ensure that service monitoring is enabled locally on your machine, and configure the VPS entirely at the start to be ready for hosting as quickly as possible.
7) The footprint of cPanel itself has been reduced with the new VPS-friendly releases, with Red5 running as well, I'd say around 100-150MB would be used in these base OS/system processes. If stats processes are running that could eat another 25-100MB depending on the size of the stats logs running at the time. Leaving an average of 350-400MB for your apps/sites to run comfortably within.

If you have any further questions please let us know.

I just tried to order a vps, and I got this:

===========
--- FRAUD WARNING --- This order has been detected to be Fraudulent. An error report has been sent to the Administrator with your contact information and order info. If you feel this is in error, please contact sales for more information. We apologize in advance if this is a legit order, please email us at sales@cirtexhosting.com or use http://support.cirtex.com (sales dept) with verification and details on this order so we can process it for you manually. Thank you.
===========

I went to https://support.cirtex.com/index.php and tried to file a ticket to sales departement, like instructed.

There is nothing wrong with my amex card of course.

I must say, it is unfortunate to start a business relationship like this. I am almost tempted to cancel my order.

They asked me to do it again, checking my billing address was fine, which I did. It was rejected again by the system as fraud. So, I sent all my data to sales@cirtex.com.

Hi,

Yes we'll get you setup asap manually as you didn't pass the FRAUD Detection unfortunately.

Cheers
