Default Understanding Servers in General

Ok. I'd like to ask a few pretty basic questions.
On the VPS servers, its pretty much a remote computer which you can connect to and run w/e. (as long as it follows terms and conditions) I dont have to run purely a web server?

Also if the above is true, what OS are the VPS servers running? I couldn't find that. Is that because your only allowed to run the software it comes with, thus it doesn't really matter what OS it is?

The VPS is (as you said) a remote computer with CentOS release 4.6 OS installed. A hardware node which is running under Linux has been virtually split into different individual servers using a Virtualization software Virtuzoo. Our VPS have Cpanel and all the web based services pre installed .How ever it will be upto you to decide whether you need to use it for hosting web sites or to use it for some other purpose such as remote Mysql server or File server.

However,You will not be able to change the OS version inside a Virtuzoo container from HostV.

Thank you

So would I be able to run say a game server on the remote virtual computer if I chose to?

If so, I don't suppose theirs some kind of emulator to allow windows programs to run on CentOS. CentOS appears to be another form of linux. Will programs that run on say Ubuntu run on CentOS?

I appreciate your time.
Thank you.

Hi,

Yes you can host a gameserver and just need it setup on the virtual or dedicated server with us such as a half life server.

Cheers

Hi,

1) Yes there is 30 day money back
2) You have Virtuozzo Power Panel & Cpanel Control panel, as well as SSH, FTP etc.. you can use to access server. As for remote desktop you may have to set that up or check with support.

Note it is in a linux environment

Cheers
