Default Maxpages

What's the best way to keep maxpages down so I do not get so many alerts about it?

Find the root cause of it. Usually something being accessed over and over can be the reason. If you do not have a busy site then a runaway script could cause it.

That's just it, sometime I plug what I think is the problem and then it turns out to be something else and so on.

It may be due to a certain number of people accessing parts of your site at the same time. You probably have to upgrade your hosting package.

One thing that's really helped me is getting rid of sites that really didn't make much of an impact on my earnings but too up a lot of bandwidth.

That's a point youtube. Actually I found that not regularly patching scripts can cause too much unnecessary activity on your sites too.
