Default SMF 1 or SMF 2

For Simple Machines Forum software which one is better to use: SMF 1 or SMF 2?

I think its best to stay with SMF 1 because it is stable SMF 2 is still in production.

I like both but have switched a couple of my forums to SMF 2 to save the hassel of having to upgrade later.

Thing with SMF 2 though is even though you are upgrading now you are going to have to upgrade later because its not stable.

Simple Machines software is full of bugs regardless to whether you use version 1 or 2, better if you go with Vbulletin or IPB.

Please don't change my thread into something about hating SMF and switching. I'm not going to spend money on either of the software you mentioned.

You can lose some mods by upgrading though so it depends on what you have installed then you can know if you want to upgrade.

If you know PHP you can upgrade most of the mods yourself without the hassle.

I don't know PHP that much. Most I can do now is install a script with directions and even then I goof up sometimes.
