Vista or XP

You could have installed it as dual boot instead of taking out Vista completely because at some point they will stop giving updates for XP, especially as Windows 7 is coming out.

You have to be careful with dual boot though because you can seriously mess up your hard drive and be unable to start if you do not know what you are doing.

Granted, but I'm assuming that he would do it properly, not that he would look to intentionally mess up his system

Recently I came across a tweak program that gets rid of all the popup and other annoyances in Vista and now its not so bad.

Even so, I doubt that will make it any better. XP allows for easy flow. With Vista you still have to keep disabling to get something the way you want it.
