Menu Types
I have seen many kinds of navigation menus, but which one is really the most suitable if you have many links?

I like javascript drop down menus. The only thing with them is you have to ensure the person has javascript enabled.

Simple text links are the best. They are recognized both by humans and bots

Text links are not charming on their own so usually if you place them in a menu bar they look better.

What I do is look for javascript that uses both text and the code so if the visitor has
js
disabled there is no loss.

That is a good idea clipshare. You can put text and do a check for javascript enabled and then show the alter menu.

I love the look and feel of flash menus, but of course the draw back is that the user needs the plugin active before they can see it.

Another cool one is the slide menu where it slides in from the side, but I hardly see any sites with it.

That is old school, I don't think anyone uses that anymore. Everything is web 2.0 now.
