Default OpenOffice vs. Word

Which one do you prefer to use and support?

I can use anyone, but since most people use Word I'm kind of forced to stay with that.

Free is always good for me. I do not like Word at all but sometimes my clients use it and so I have top open what they put in Word. I know Open Office has the extension for Word, but it doesn't always work.

Honestly I prefer Word just because I grew up seeing it, not because I particularly like it over OO.

One big thing about Open Office though - its open and developers are always making enhancements for it. With Word its more or less you get what you get and that's it.

Well that is true, but Microsoft has lots of developers too? The biggest thing is compatibility issues from what is free and what people tend to use. When a client sends me a file they want me to read it just as they created it.
