Default Jeep-CJ.com

I've been working on a new concept for months and just opened the main site. I wanted to create an all em composing site that wasn't to restrictive for a passion of mine, my Jeep CJ5.

http://www.jeep-cj.com

I really fought with my self over the front page look and decided I liked the rustic feel of the portal instead of a real streamlined smooth feel - rough like off-road.

I have managed to buy up jeep-cj2, jeep-cj3, jeep-cj4, jeep-cj5, jeep-cj6, jeep-cj7, and jeep-cj10 (.com) over time (all the Jeep CJ series except cj8 (still working that one)) and I am using them to automatically redirect (after 15 seconds) to the main site.

Jut thought I'd throw this out to you all and ask for thoughts and suggestions. I am aware that the site is best viewed at 1024x768 but I had to make that concession due to a graphics problem I'm trying to sort out.

Thanks for looking,

The site looks very good, I think the rustic look does suit the subject.

I like the clear easy to read text, but I do think that the width should be reduced to 8-900 when possible to avoid horizontal scrolling.

I agree - 800 is what I'm shooting for...

Thanks for looking.

Great feel to the site and Jeep is one of my favorite I'd also recommend possibly making the overall width a bit smaller to make it easier for users with WIDE SCREEN etc.. as people prefer smaller width a lot of times unless it's video etc..

Cheers

That is a cool site. I mean I'm not into jeeps or anything but the look presented makes you want to stay and look or even join.

Thanks Wilber - I'm glad you liked it. The presentation is supposed to do exactly that - make you want to look and join...

Well you have certainly done that. I will have to book your name down for some of my future web projects or do you just work on your own?

Thanks or the compliment. I did not design the graphics. I really have no artistic ability at all - LOL
It was designed by a company called ForumSkin. As for all the custom code work and such and the layout - it's all me. Once thing I try to do is create all the code changes via plugins, example - I have one very large xml file that I load as a product that does all the modification of the site - no template or php edits... Just load a product xml file and I'm done.
Unfortunately I only work on my sites part time, I'm an Engineer in my real life and it leaves little time for other work but I'm always available for suggestions...

Ah OK, well that is cool to know now I have to UN-book your name . I can't say I'm all that talented too, but you did do a good job of 'engineering' that one.

Nice site. Clean and to the point, you don't have to guess what it's about. What is the "-cj" for?
